Most Important Green Event in Region
An estimated 20,000 people are expected to descend on Headhouse Square at 2nd and Lombard Streets in Philadelphia on Sunday, September 7 to explore the latest and greatest in the green-friendly world during the GreenFest Philly event.
The area’s largest environmental event will host more than 200 exhibitors from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Displays will include the Socially Responsible Fashion (SoReFa) Show, sneaker recycling, an organic pastry contest and an Eco-Film Forum. Children will be entertained by a puppet theatre troupe made entirely of recycled and found objects. Music will play from the main stage most of the day.
This year’s emphasis is water conservation, and a display sponsored by PhillyCarShare will feature a water filtration system made entirely of plants. Experts will also speak about some of the most important water issues in the Delaware Valley.
The Philadelphia region has an abundance of environmentally friendly businesses and interest groups, and this is an excellent showcase for the most important among them. If anyone needs another reason to hang out around South Street on a Sunday afternoon, this is a good one. Show the world you’re interested in a change for the greener by joining us.
More information can be found at GreenFest Philly. The event is produced by the Urban Green Partnership.
